Generally, the videos available on the internet are generally in mp4. You may even search for your videos on the net and when you download it on your system, it is in mp4 format. Now if you want to play them on other device but it is unable to play it, because it is unable to detect the video. Generally, the mp4 do not work well with the products manufactured by Apple. Though, mp4 has been officially accepted as Apple supported formats because some of the video codecs of mp4 have not been accepted Apple product. And sometimes QuickTime, iPhone or iPad is unable to play the mp4 videos. In such cases, you have to convert the mp4 files into other video formats that are supported by Apple such as MOV. Nowadays as the popularity of the apple products is increasing, MOV video format is also becoming popular, as all the Apple series products are highly supporting the MOV file formats.

The structure of MP4 file composition is based on the technology of Apple’s QuickTime generally; the data is generally embedded in MPEG-4 as file formats do not work well with Apple products. In such cases if you want to edit the videos in Mp4 format to iMovie or playing MP4 on iPad, iPhone, iTunes, etc. this would not provide you the complete solution. It is better to convert the Mp4 into MOV first as MOV container as all the Apple devices such as Final Cut Pro, iTunes, iMovie, QuickTime Player, iPhone, iPad, etc can play MOV file easily.
